Caldera Cone Ti Tri Sidewinder for the Appalachian Trail baking a CAKE! ( VIDEO )

We have decided on the cook system that Annette and I are planning to use on the Appalachian Trail thru-hike.  Here is an overview of our choices and shows our method of steam baking on the trail.  This is really great for a few things.  Cakes, muffins, pancakes, eggs, and a few other options are totally possible, and there is a limited cleanup with wax paper.  Check out our baking method as we make a cake out of chocolate muffin mix


  1. Great video, thanks for sharing. I have decided that the CC will be my next kitchen set up, but until then I have 3 other sets to keep me busy...
    Also, have you thought about mixing the batter in the pan you are baking it in? By doing this you could carry all the batter in one bag and save a little weight by carrying less bags (every oz counts... :)) Or if you like using 1 bag per serving, if you mix in the pan the bag can then be used as a garbage bag (multiuse items are great too...)
